Hey Guys , Thank You for the welcome to your site :D

I do have photos of my car , 163 of em to be exact , which were of the work I did to it . My car is a six cyl , 700R4 , and only had 79K miles when I got it . Thing is , It is a southern car that truly WAS only driven on sunny days and so is TRULY 100% rust free . Now , it's storage may have saved it's metal , but it's storage was a garage that would hit 120 degrees on just about any sunny summer day . Net result being every gasket and seal in both the engine and transmission were literally baked , and the car leaked every fluid it had . When it was offered to me by my best friend who owned it since 1990 , I just couldn't say no  So , being an old , not in great shape retired guy , I began what ended up being a yearlong pulling of the engine/transmission , totally cleaning and re gasketing every seal in both , and reinstalling it with all the right things replaced (timing chain/gears , engine and transmission mounts , even down to freeze plugs and U joints , and of course topped that all off with new exhaust from the manifolds to tailpipes , brakes from the master cyl through all the flex lines going to the wheels and calipers/rotors/etc . Some new shocks , sway bar bushings , and other goodies found their way into it as well ) .

Now you may well ask , WHY would you WASTE your dollars on a SIX cylinder ??? Are you NUTS ???

No , Not nuts , just an old dude , retired machine mechanic with an aircraft maintenance background who really don't need to go all that fast . Truth be told , back when these cars were new I owned a two year old 87 trans am with the 305 , and i'll be damned this lil six feel pretty close to what my long ago TA felt like , acceleration wise .

Ok , I have attempted to add two photos of my Firebird , as well as four photos of cars from my past . Yes ! Photos resized and posted !!! :D

I've dabbled with those 60 degree motors before, if you ever feel like getting friskey the Melling MTC-5 camshaft is a wonderful upgrade for those motors, really wakes them up so you can take advantage of those forged rods. I did that and 3.73s plus a cat back and would walk LG4 and TBI cars.

Edit: Also those motors are set back quite a bit compared to the V8 cars and all the suspension mods Make them good corner carvers.

:D I promise it's not just simple laziness , it's that at this time of year I'm the busiest retiree I know :D

I will get em resized soon . You know , sometimes I wonder how I ever found time for work before I retired , Amazing how the day seems to fill itself with things to do as the available time increases 8)

:D YES !!!! Success !!!! And there it is , in all it's Safety Cone Orange glory !!!! (I hope like HELL ya don't think I had ANYTHING to do with the color , when offered a 100% rust free Third Gen , I wouldn't have cared if it was crinkle dink pink , I'd have taken it in an instant .)

I have many more photos to resize if there is interest . I regasketed both the engine and transmission (went as far as the pump O rings and such in the transmission) and took photos of the whole process .

PS , I know the tail lights aren't year correct , to me I chose the parts for looks , rather than proper model year accuracy . I figure , if they bolt right on with no hacking , as these tail lights did , well then they now belong to my car

One quick question , should i continue posting my pictures here or start a separate thread for them ?

Hi Gents ,

Thank You for the compliments on the car , I feel that I got SUPER lucky to get something that rust free literally dropped in my lap 8) It's great to have great friends 8)

Anyway , I resized a few more photos today . These arent , of course , my Firebird but are , In fact , photos of cars I owned as daily drivers "back in the day" .

The fifties cars I owned as 15 to 20 year old cars and the sixties cars I owned as 10 to 15 year old as per their model years .

:D I sadly no longer own any of them , these were my cars 30 + years ago , but are proof that I've been a GM guy pretty much , FOREVER 8) ......

There's different sections for different topics, but it's mostly just suggestion. We aren't all that strict about what topic gets posted where.

Nice looking bird. Correct me if I am wrong but are those not the correct tail lights? They look like the early style like on my 84.
Just a little cammed 305.. :)

Yep, he mentioned that up above.. I like those tail lights myself... and they don't delaminate either like the later ones do.

FYI: the un-tinted version were on all base Firebirds from '82-'85.. the tinted were found only on the '82-'84 Trans Am & ''82-'84 Firebird S/E.

Yes , as per being "year correct" , I did mention that in the restoration of the car I didn't worry in the least as to only 1989 parts being used . To me , if a part came from an 82 to 92 F body , bolted on without modification , and looked good to my eye , well then it got the job :D

The original 89 taillights don't have that "Firebird look" to me that the 82 set has , and thus the 82 set got installed ( I think they are 82 ? Could be 83 , maybe ? )

They were a $50 craig's list find , and really give the look I wanted in back ....

Look like early TA Tail lights - Pretty sought after and IMO a 'cool' look for the Firebird Ass-end.

To me , if a part came from an 82 to 92 F body , bolted on without modification , and looked good to my eye , well then it got the job

:wtg: And that's EXACTLY how I build them too !!!

I totally agree. You should have heard the guy that ended up buying my IROC. "Your door stickers are in the wrong place". Me, "No, they are EXACTLY where I put them". Him, "which is in the wrong place". Me, "No, It's my car not GM's, I could give a shlt what GM did to the car, notice the AC delete box, the 350 swap, the wrong shift plate, the 4th gen rear yada yada yada". Him, "yep, all things I am going to have to correct". If I hadn't been trying to sell it for almost 2 years I would have hold him to get a life and find another car.
