New Member from Connecticut!

Postby Lewspike69 » Mon Mar 04, 2013 9:10 am

Hello all

I found out about this club from thirdgen.org. I'd like to see if there is any other f-body enthusiasts local to me (I'm located in the greater Waterburry area)

When I turned 16, my father gave me his first car, a 1983 Camaro coupe. It has been love ever since haha. I am just about to drop in a 383 stroker that I built myself.

I'm having issues with uploading pics however I will soon. I'm glad to have found out about this!

Hi Lewspike,

Welcome to NECF! Yep, there's a fairly large contingent of us in CT. Great to hear that your Father gave her to you, even better to hear that you're dropping in a 383!

Great group of people here and a lot of knowledge.

As for loading pics, you'll need yo use a site like photobucket to upload to, then use the "Img" tool above... it will look like this ".... then insert the picture link in between them... Photobucket actually has a preset link available with those already set into the link, so all you need to do is click, copy, paste... no need to use the tool above.

We usually have several big meets during the year... we're actually long overdue for our Winter Blues Meet...

Our next one is usually on/around Fathers Day... our next one is our NECF Potluck Meet in RI at Goddard State Park. Then we try to do a late Summer Meet, then a Fall Meet/Cruise... then there are smaller, more localized events/shows, plus Marks Monday Night Cruise-In in Windsor Locks/Suffield, CT right next to Bradley Intn'l.

Thats one clean looking sport coupe! The Keystones and the louvers really give off a retro vib! I like it a lot. Your going to have fun hooking up those 15 inch tires though with that 383!

Oh is see haha

Hey guys, prob not the usual place to ask this but do you know anyone with a good rear end for sale? I had a soposedly built 10 bolt in line but actually saw it today and the "Eaton" it had turned into a stock auburn for a rediculous high price lol.
If I don't find a rear quickly I won't be able to finish my build for the start of the season.
I'm looking for a 3rd or 4th gen Posi (preferably Eaton or Torsen) have a series 3 carrier and preferably disk breaks. If not I'm just going to go hunt for LS1 cars in the junk yard i guess.

Any help would be awesome.

Welcome! Great lookin car! Where abouts in CT are you? Me and a bunch of my "gear head" buddys meet on the pike every saturday night through the driving season. Is a good time and would love to have some more 3rd gens represent.

At 16 be careful with that 383! When i turned 17 i bought a 79 that had a 400ci/m21 4spd/3.73 for a short time. Im lucky i didnt kill myself, that car was a handful.

Welcome! ^^^^^^^^^^ I had a 76 Trans Am with the Hurst 4 speed and 455 and 4.10 posi rear when I was 17. You could be doing 40 mph in third gear and side step the clutch, hit the gas and IMMEDIATLEY send the car sideways. The one car I should have NEVER sold! I bought it for $2700 and a few months later some guy offered me $3000 for it so I sold it. But they were just cars back then and they were everywhere and nothing special at the time. My dad hated that car and was relieved when I sold it!

My dad MADE me sell the car. My buddy came over to go for a cruise, when we got back to my house (which is on a cul de sac) I decided to do doughnuts in front of the house and on the 3rd 360, I popped the curb by accident , tore up the end of the front lawn and stopped about a MM from the mailbox. He said sell before you get killed, or move out. I look back and honestly dont know how I didnt kill myself since I didnt have any self control with my right foot.

I got into enough trouble at 18 with a 305 tpi i cant imagine what stupid stuff i would have done if i had had the motor i have now or that 383. As others said be careful. Sounds like its going to be quit the beast.
