Wow!

What kind of documentation would you like?
Each car was numbered and the VIN will verify it as being a Turbo TA... Pontiac Historical Services can verify it further (for a fee)...

Thanks for all the input. I'll be posting pics one day next week after I get back down to the car. I'm planning to pick it :puke: up toward the end of the week. I'll be posting pictures then. I'll be taking pictures as it sits and then as I load it. Thanks again. Walt

Pictures of my amazing barn find. This is the condition that it's in sitting in the barn. It's been there out of the elements since 1989. I'll post more pictures later in the week when I'm loading it. Thanks for everyone's input.

She's easily a $30,000 car with that mileage and in that condition... which appears to be simply dusty... Very Possibly a lot more at a serious auction... of couse the auctionhouse will cut you 30%, plus fees... With each car, Pontiac issued a Owner's Kit, which included a bunch of cool things... unfortunately, Pontiac was delayed in getting them out to owners... many ended up at the dealerships and never sent to the owners... so they are very hard to come by, but if that car also has it... damn... you have one hell of a home run!

The engine absolutely needs to be gone through before you even think about trying to start her up... after sitting so long, you could easily burn up the Turbo... so don't try to run her yet!!!!!

You absolutely need to call Cotton's Performance in Agawam, Mass to go through this car for you... Jack Cotton is THE GURU of all things Turbo Buick in the World and he will make sure that your car is 100%.... If I had stumbled upon that car... not only would I be in intesive care for cardiac help, but I'd be on the phone calling him to go through the car for me.

OK Walt... now that I've collected myself up off the floor and regained my vision after rereading your entire thread... (I was in VT and missed the mileage part)....

you have the closest thing to a holy grail of Trans Ams... and possibly one of the lowest mileage ones in existence... Please PM your contact info... I will try and help you as best I can
and WELCOME TO NECF!!!!!

Oh. My. God.

I literally had to step out of the front desk and smoke two cigarettes after seeing that. Being from a turbo background, the turbo 3.8s always got me tons of interest. Please, follow what these guys suggest and have that looked over before starting it! Would love to see that thing at the next get together these guys have! Welcome to NECF!!!

LOL... Guys... all of the info is right here on NECF and far more comprehensive than any other site out there..... I spent several months putting that article together.

viewtopic.php?f=39&t=5459&p=64216#p64216

This car is believed to be a very low number and actual Festival Car..

For those wondering, Festival Cars were cars built to be present at a race for VIPs to drive, along with the Actual Pace Cars. On top of their production sequence, Festival Cars were also numbered, which is part of why I say what I say up above... not only is it unmolested/100% Original, but she's low mileage, and was present at Indy... the questions now are...

Did she make the celebratory escorting lap with a handful of other Festival Cars and the Dedicated Pace Cars?
Who was/were the VIP or VIPs that drove her?
Amongst some other details being researched.....

Dan, you'd live easier with the one John posted... look at it this way... with a car like this, every time that ODO ticks, imagine yourself burning a few Benjamins.. yep, cars are meant to be driven... but sometimes.... ;)

Howdy one and all. Just got back from my barn find and moved it to the front of the building where it is stored.I will be bringing it home tomorrow.I took my wife along to take pictures and she fell in love with it,sooo it might be a little harder to sell than I first thought.(lol) I had a chance to open the trunk and low and behold there is the t-top head liner still in the box unused and another packet blue and white in color unopened.I gently put it all back and closed the trunk. there is the number 108 on the license plate area and it appears to be in black marker of some sort.I will be posting more pics tonight . Thanks for all the input, and special thanks Brother Al for all his help. Thanks Walt

Now question for you when you do end up getting it home. I know that the TTA's got a 9 bolt rear end from the factory but im curious if the festival cars received this as well? Ive done enough reading over the years to see that the festival cars as well as the ones that actually paced indy may have had a dana 44 installed as a safe measure. It is a rumor however and one i would like to see busted or proven true. When you get it home any chance you could snap a picture of the rear axle?

Festival Cars all came with the 9 bolt... the actual Pace Cars?... good question. I would guess that they also did. The cars were built at Van Nyes as partially assembled White GTAs, minus the engine/trans... they were built in batches with one "sacrificial" White painted car (Camaro or Firebird) ahead of the actual batch so any residual paint color would not contaminate the "White" TTA's, and then those were sent next door to PAS for the engine/trans addition.

Here is another great website from the designer of the TTA. You can find out all the PHS info here for free with the vin# of the car.

Thanks for sharing the info and story...very interesting...I wish it was on Velocity... :)

I hate you Walt and love you all at the same time. Amazing find man. Keep it. There are just some things that money cannot replace or equal. The first is a 3 way with Selma Hayek and Kate Beckinsale. This is a close second. After a few beers it could easily be first.

Howdy everyone, just got the new find all cleaned up.I was surprised on how easy it was to come clean. The wheels and tires are perfect and the body has no dents or scratches.I put it in a friends building (it's a body shop) and customers were taking pictures of it as they were leaving.I put it up on the hoist and the under side is amazing. I would like to know what the lowest mileage festival car is.By the info I 've seen the 985 miles on my car seems to be the lowest . If anyone knows of one lower please do tell. Again thanks for all your help. Will send more cleaned up pics this week.

WOW. VERY, VERY JEALOUS. Keep this car and cherish it, drive it, and enjoy it! Or sell it to GM for some major cash.

Out of curosity- and maybe Al and others can chime in- why do the rear seats have a gap in them? Were TTA's not set up the same with the solid fold down seat back or the split fold down seat back?
