Winter Gathering Discussion 2017

Postby Brother Al » Fri Dec 16, 2016 12:27 pm

OK Folks, we've had a few suggestions and they were both for going to an indoor race cart track... We did this a few years ago and had a blast. That said, it would take up a hunk of the day and its not "cheap", regardless of where we pick.

So, please Discuss... and please consider cost, parking, and travel times for people.

What day/date works for the event ? Do you need to be a licenced driver to drive at the track?

I didnt have a location, date, or time because I want everyone's input. Lots of places to pick from, location is key to any event. Id actually prefer to pick someplace closer to the Hartford-Springfield Metro or Southern New Hampshire, because we do already do one event in Central Mass and one in RI... but again, its up to everyone. Cost, Average Travel Times, and Accesibility to the Highways are key.

I am partial to the new one in Montville CT. I know it's a haul for some people seeing that it's located in south eastern CT, but it's the biggest indoor track in the world. I think it's worth a look.

I'm likely in so long as we can rent our own track time.

I just talked to a representative at NasKart and they do an hourly track rental rate. The question becomes how many people are coming and how long do we want to rent it for. It's gonna get really expensive with only a few people. I would say 20+ would be worth renting the track and any less we should just pay the normal rates. I will hopefully have some concrete numbers soon. They can also include food and drink into the mix for rental, but that could get really pricey.

This is what Ive run into everytime. The Webster cart track was very good to us, in that they let me know which weekend was "lightly scheduled", so we could have decent track time, without buying a hour slot. Depending on when, Id definately be IN.
President's Day weekend - Feb 18-20th I have multiple events already.

I just went by the Naskart place today off of 85. It looks good. Let me know what potential dates are available.

So I just got a response from a representative from Naskart and track rental may be out of the question. First off we would need 25 people minimum. It's $50 per hour per person with a 2 hour minimum for rental. So $100 a person. This includes unlimited racing in the 2 hour window with food and drink included minus alcoholic beverages.

If we have a group of 12 or more she can give us 10% off the price of each heat we run. Prices are $7 for license and $20 per driving heat. So we save 2 bucks per heat if we have a group of 12 or more. Each heat is about 10 minutes and a couple miles of racing. These carts go 45 mph as well.
