Frank Marattas Auto & Cycle Show

Postby AC » Mon Nov 24, 2008 10:19 pm

February 6-8, 2009 Hartford, CT is the next Frank Marattas Auto & Cycle Show. The show is a good place to see in less than an hour. The idea would be to meet either before or after in another location (Manchester, CT maybe?) to have a club meeting and handout tshirts, stickers, etc and discuss the up coming season. The cutoff date for entering a car is November 30th, 2008. I'll be entering my car for sure next year but thats too short of notice for alot of us to make this year (Feb 09').

You know, i was going to get my car entered this year, but a few things have prevented me from putting it in:

1) wanted to smooth out the bottom of the hood and get some airbrush work (firechicken on fire?) done on it...

2) some exterior airbrushing (same firebird logo on the sail panels but on fire, maybe a little something on the side of the cowl on the hood

3) my damn jack attacked my drivers door...

I'd be interested in going however!

Steve - your car the way it sits right now is better than some of the cars at the show last year. I think it would be nice to have some NECF representation at the show.

The reg date was November 30th I think it was. When I posted about NECF cars being there I meant for the 2010 year. I'll be going but my car won't be in it for sure.

Duoh !

I didn't re-read the opening thread - obviously working on my memory isn't always the best thing !

What day is best ?? Place to meet before or after the event ?? Will we actually have a club meeting or just a 'meet and greet' ?? This event is less than a month away,..............

BAH! Minor procedure! I had mine 9 years ago in the morning and went golfing that afternoon. They make an 1/8" cut, Pull the tubes out, cut em, coderize them and slip em back in. Takes like 3 minutes! A good paper cut is far worse! And I am sure it has probably gotten easier and more efficient in the last 9 years.

Only a gearhead could look at a pile of plastic, steel, glass, rubber, & highly toxic chemicals, see the face of a forlorn & forgotten orphan on it, and then say:" Oh you poor thing!, I'll save you!, You'll be wicked easy to fix up... a few bits here, a touch up over there, a wash, some wax,.." 5K later, it barely runs, leaks something, & likely won't pass a safety/emissions inspection... - Brother Al

DO we want to go on Friday night (the 7th) or Saturday (the 8th) ? The thought would be meet at Hooters in Manchester 1st, have some beer, boobies & wings, then go over to the show. What day are we goin?

Personally I think Saturday would be the better day. I can go either day, but it might be better for most people to not have to rush right after work on Friday. I am not sure of the scheduling of the event. Is there anything special going on either one of those days that we don't want to miss?

It doesnt say anything on the website about anything special going on... I would prefer Saturday since i don't get even home from work until 630 usually on Fridays...

If you all don't mind then I'll talk with Manifoldsrme about Saturday night. I'm going to look to lock this thread so that we don't lose anyone in this one while we're trying to organize in the new thread. The new thread would be targetted for organizing who, what, where etc.

Best thing i saw at the show was the sticker on the fan shroud of the 300zx right next to the brand new skyline. "Boost makes panties drop"

I left for good at about 9:30 or so,............had to let the buzz from the wiskey on rocks fade before leaving ! I had already left my 'marks' in Manchester but expected to leave a few in Hartford and didn't need any "extra" trouble on the ride home ! ( Burnouts are get you a ticket - DWI gets Ya' Jail time ! )

To bad you didn't spot the T-Shirt thru the crowd !
