Car's back on the lift for the weekend. Things left to be done, install the 5th gen rear brake calipers/brackets and lines from master to rear and bleed all the brakes, Install the fuel line / inline pump and evap canister, install driveshaft. Add all fluids, Car should start after that (already hooked up battery power to check gauges). Install clutch slave line, add fluid and bleed. Put in seats and harnesses. Wire in the head lights and front turn signals. There is light paint work left to be done on the small chrome pieces that I sand blasted to de-chrome the car (the trim around the vent windows, the door seal chrome channels and a couple bolts/hardware for the vent windows and door handles. Last sheet metal pieces to be installed are the 2 fender extensions and valance. I may drive the car without door panels and carpet for a brief time. I'd say if all goes well and I don't end up needing to order any parts I should be able to take her down the road within the next couple weeks after I go around and check the torque on all the fasteners in the whole car. Pretty close

Exhaust "done", needs turn downs and the header flanges milled alittle. Clutch bled and car moves and stops.. spins the rears nicely haha. Need to fix a rear brake leak and re-bled on rears only. Closer and closer.

So last weekend I finally drove the car about 25 miles. Couple bugs to work out but I have everything in the car operational --- including a fuel gauge holy crap! lol

Right now I need to mill my front spindles since my brake pads are jamming up after about 15 minutes -- thanks FLYNBYE -- "no modifications needed with these brackets" -- bullshit!

I also have a steering line leak from the return line on my DSE lines, not sure whats going on but I'll hopefully figure it out, and as usual I have multiple header leaks, small ones, so I'll have to double gasket them as I already milled the flanges and installed studs, still leaking. Overall the Car is a screamer considering its only a mildy cammed 5.3 w/stock parts and full 3" exhaust, car's so light!

Since these pics I have added the grills and a couple other things. About 97% Done. Needs carpet, headliner, door panels, rear seat area paneled, ebrake cables installed, dash pad wet sanding etc etc

So my power steering box is leaking from the input seal. Instead of rebuilding anyone have a good working fast ratio from a 3rd gen? That's what it's in there....

Found one local, hopefully I can get this squared away. Careful of ordering a remanned one from a parts store, got one that was a 3 turn lock to lock and wasn't lined up with my rag joint (input shaft pointing up, rag joint pointing down) turns out it was a Grand Cherokee box.....this caused a major hard effort/almost binding steering condition

Still picking away at issues. Found my brake pedal was getting stuck on its return stroke about 3/4" at the top, pulled up on it and it made a light pop. Might be a bind issue in the booster/pdeal linkage so for now I'm going to add a return spring to keep it up.

Second issue with steering is I believe my steering stops may have been preventing full bleeding of the system. I added 3/8" stops to my arms to prevent lock to lock frame grazing with the tires and my calipers were just grazing my gi-normous front sway bar so I relocated them to the rear of the spindle and removed the stops (just have to be aware when turning in parking lots of tire rub).

Getting there slowly but surely. Car is at least fully driveable and is fun to drive. Very agile car, I figure its weight around the 3000-3200lb mark (Stock curb weight was 3328lbs for a coupe)

As soon as these issues are worked out, if none else pop up after a few hundred miles I will be adding H/C/I to bump the power up 80-100hp. I'm on the look out for a FAST intake.

:D

Got her down to one issue (besides a rear end sag to the left lol). I have a bearing noise which I believe to the pilot bearing, I usually use a bronze bushing so that will be next years project. Time for her to go to sleep. Thanks all for the encouragement. It was a long ride to get her to a driveable condition.

My kids love your car! Mine is going away on Thursday. When she comes out she is getting an exterior restore with new decals. Can't wait to see what next year brings to the 67.

Thanks man! Take lots of pics! I'm not entirely sure what direction to go with Marla but I did just build a whole spread sheet of parts for a turbo to add....maybe...
