Day at the DMV turned to hell.

Just got back from the Woonsocket, RI DMV. I pretty much almost killed someone, was trying to register my 86 Camaro z28, i went up when being called, got some miserable @#$%^ and i handed her all my paper work and my bill of sale written out for 600, she looks up at me with some little book and tells me shes charging me book value on sales tax, I said alright thats fine how much is it booked at, she told me 8600  and that sales on it would be like 648 or something retarted  , i tried to stay calm but i walked out all pissed and called my dad, he told me that was rediculous, i went back in and got another lady and tried explaining that last summer i registered a 86 Camaro and i didnt get charged book value, she told me as of 4 months ago they took off lexus and infiniti and replaced it with camaro and mustang, and that even though it wasnt a antique I still had to pay book value, i pretty much started yelling and just left because she was giving me a terrible attitude.

So at this point im not sure what to do...i just got home and went on NADA, low retail is 2,275, average is 3,950...not sure where the 8600 comes into play...quite ridiculous if you ask me...any ideas on what i should do? im thinking of going to another registry and showing them a printed copy from online, i think i would pay on low retail but even thats still a bit much..

Expect anything in the future regarding a government "service" to become SHOCKINGLY expensive. It is the future my friends.

Inflation = Anything you want in the future

Deflation = Anything you currently own (House, 401k, big ticket items, gasoline powered cars within 20-50 years).

Remember those words above because it is our future for as far as the eye can see. Everything is going to cost more with the VAT coming, and localities will raise every tax already on the book. I am already seeing it, my garbage pickup went up over $30 this year from the city. And they cut back the bulk pickup to once a month. More expensive, less services. Get used to that as well!

As a nation we are 13.5 trillion dollars in debt with no possible way to start to pay it down. Over $50,000 for ever man woman and CHILD in this country, how many of you can cough up that much cash to "donate" to the country to settle YOUR debt? It's insanity.

There is also 58 trillion, yes, 58 TRILLION more in unfunded pensions and other bonds OUTSTANDING that are yet to be funded. New York skipped its whole 3 billion dollar a year pension payment and took a bond out on it instead to balance their budget. This shlt has to be paid back. Or the city of NY defaults on its loans? Could you imagine? California could go bankrupt as a state in the next couple years. It is very possible. The federal government will step in and bail out the state of California to the tune of a taxpayer funded bailout. Mark my words that is how it will go down. You and me. We will pay for it when everything is said and done. All the illegals, the welfare, the healthcare, the need for social services, all of Californias problems. Paid for by you and me. And it will just be a few trillion more to our defecit as a nation.

How are we going to pay down our deficet and more stressing, fund our peoples pensions and promises? The future looks interesting indeed.

I agree you are getting raped on your car, but you know what. They don't give a fuk or feel your pain. They have to feed the beast of government, I wonder how big the beast will get before it is killed.........

Don't they have an actual bill of sale form? Did you try and explain to her that $8,600 is the original sticker?

I would go down there with the actual NADA book next time.

I don't know how RI does it but CT has a nice loophole where you can get out of paying ANY tax.
Hint: Gift between family members...

F' em...

People at work are talking about how they are going to start taxing my "pre-tax" deductions from my paycheck.. 401K, medical, etc... Im going to get screwed now because im responsible take 15% out every paycheck for 401K and medical spending account..

I used to get free cable/internet/phone service from the company i work for. But a new IRS regulation now says they can only offer it at 20% off retail. WTF does the IRS have to do with how much a company gives away? :club:

The property tax on this house is now almost the same as the mortgage,, Tax is 500 a month and the mortgage is 600/mo.. And I live in a shithole of a city.

Her's something for you to "chew - on " !!!

This was taken from the RI DMV webiste about 2 minutes ago:

Sales tax in the State of Rhode Island must be paid at the time of registration. If you are registering a vehicle that you purchased from a dealer, the sales tax is 7% of the purchase price, minus trade-in and other allowances, such as rebates. This applies to passenger vehicles ONLY. Trucks are excluded from the trade-in allowance.

If you purchase a vehicle from a private party and the vehicle is seven (7) years old or newer, you will pay sales tax based on 7% of the NADA book value (blue book) of the vehicle or on the purchase price, whichever is higher.

:wtf: If the policy was enacted in March than,..................

that only applies to regular cars. Camaro's, mustangs, and old muscle cars are now considered "cars of particular interest" and they tax the sh!t out of you. glad mine is already registered.
