Maybe I can come watch some cars go down the strip, but I dont have anything to run, unless I take my Subaru out and do a 16-17 second pass lol

There's plenty o places to meet up before. We've stopped at a restop I think in Lee before off the Pike, there's also 2 or maybe even 3 gas stations on the road leading to the track we could meet at. Nothing wrong with just going to watch some cars or some of us beat the snot out of our cars at the track.

Blanford Rest Stop on the Mass Pike is the best one IMHO, plenty of parking, no tire-flattening debris in the lot, & no tractor-trailer dodging at the pumps... just crazy soccer Moms and mad driving NY drivers.... and for Baron, the odd-chance rest stop quickie cougar action!

Sorry I have avoided this thread, but I really have no interest in this date. If it was a Saturday race with a test and tune, I would be all over it. But I know what my car runs (slooooooooooooow), it will be 3-4 tenths off its fastest times in the August heat, so really, what would the point be? Thats also when it would probably break down on me, when there is no real reason to be abusing it! No sense in just going down the quarter with no goal (win a race) to achieve. Good luck guys! I have a feeling Adam is going to surprise everyone this time (finally!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :hail: ).

LT? You mean RS?
The RS will be the track car. The IROC has too many miles on the engine and it's too hard to be consistent with at the track.

ITS BLOCKING THE RAD EH? I CAN'T REMEMBER, DO YOU STILL HAVE A FAN SHROUD ON IT? THERE IS THIS BIG ARTICLE OVER ON HYBRID Z TALKING ABOUT THE IMPORTANCE OF THE SHROUD. DO YOU REALLY NEED A HUGE INTERCOOLER FOR A CENTRIFICAL SUPERCHARGER? I ALWAYS FIGURED IT WOULDN'T GET THAT HOT BEING THAT IT ISN'T LUBRICATED BY OIL THATS ALREADY HEATED BY THE ENGINE, AND NOT POWERED BY HOT EXHAUST FUMES.

DOES IT AT LEAST KEEP COOL ON THE HIGHWAY?

Nope highway and city. Its not the fan, I have the "all mighty" Taurus shrouded fan and it moves plenty air. Youd be surprised how hot the air gets. I have 2 ideas I have to try this week.

kinda tough with your front end anyway. I think I remarked on that before. Very stream lined but not so much for cooling. Funny you say about the taurus fan setup, it is coveted on the Hybrid Z site, I have to get one for my datsun, tho I need a rad as well.

Run straight water and find this stuff called Water Wetter, will knock the temp down about 20 degrees. Out of all the products like Purple ICe and whatever else this one works the best. Its a pinkish red color liquid in a clear bottle about the size of fuel injector cleaner ect..

I thought I remember over time hearing you shouldn't run more than 60% water because it'll actually heat up quicker. Remember glycol is the main ingredient in antifreeze and that's what carries the heat, keeping the water from boiling. IF you're going to run straight water, you HAVE to run an additive I thought otherwise your'll be blowing radiators and possibly doing worse.

I was under the impression that its the water that is actually does the cooling and has a lower boiling point, the coolant is just to keep it from freezing.

I remember my step dad telling me that they ask him if he only has water in his rad at the track cause the coolant causes issues if the rad blows.

if your race professionally with a drag car you only use water since it can be cleaned up quickly at an event but with test and tune and street nites you can run anti freeze

Water disapates(sp?) heat a lot better than coolant. Coolant doesnt allow it to freeze and may change the boiling point, not sure on that. The coolant also is a lubricant that keeps everything lubed like the water pump and helps resist corrosion and rust. The cap pressurizes the system which adjusts the boiling point of the fluid.

True but they also run for what 5 mins max at a time? Try getting one of those to sit in traffic on I84 in ct one day and see how it goes.

Viper, have you tried adding in more non mixed anti freeze? Not leaking or burning anything right?

No leaks or burning. I had a 50/50 mix last year that did the same.

75% in, I really want times bad on this car.

Hot is when the temperature gauge doesnt stop going up lol. Yes, literally. I was going to try a new cap and a larger radiator but still debating at this moment. Im going to try a new tune and see if that helps if at all first. Only time will tell. BTW can anyone tell me how thick the factory aluminum radiator core is? Im too lazy to go down to work and check.
